Email support@pursly.app and we will get back to you. Pursly is built by one person, so replies usually take a day or two rather than minutes.

If you are reporting something that went wrong, telling us the email address on your account, whether you were on iOS or the web, and roughly when it happened will get it fixed a lot faster.

Getting started

What is Pursly?

Pursly is a personal finance app for tracking what you earn and what you spend. You log expenses and income, group them into categories, set budgets, and save toward goals.

There is an iOS app and a web app. They share one account, so anything you add on your phone is on the web a moment later, and the other way around.

How do I import transactions from Gmail?

Connect Gmail from your settings. Pursly asks Google for read-only access to your mail — it can read messages to find receipts, and it cannot send, edit, or delete anything.

Once connected, Pursly checks for new receipt emails every 15 minutes and turns the ones it recognizes into expenses. The first check only looks back 24 hours, so connecting Gmail will not import years of old mail at once. You can also trigger a sync yourself instead of waiting.

Imported expenses arrive without a category, so you can file them yourself. The same email can never become two transactions, even if it is processed more than once. If Pursly is not confident an email is a receipt, it skips it rather than guessing — a missing transaction is easier to fix than a wrong one.

Gmail import is personal only. Receipts from your mailbox are never filed into a shared space, because your inbox is yours and not the space's.

Can I disconnect Gmail later?

Yes. Disconnecting revokes Pursly's access at Google and unlinks the account. Transactions already imported stay in your history — disconnecting stops future imports, it does not erase past ones.

One exception: if signing in with Google is the only way you can log in, set a password first. Otherwise disconnecting would lock you out of your own account.

What currencies does Pursly support?

You pick one currency for your account when you sign up, and you can change it later in settings. Pursly currently offers USD, EUR, GBP, INR, CAD, AUD, JPY, CHF, CNY, BRL, MXN, SGD, HKD, NOK, SEK, NZD, ZAR, and AED.

Every amount is recorded in your account currency, and Pursly does not convert between currencies. An amount is stored exactly as you enter it. If you spend abroad, enter what the transaction actually cost you in your own currency — Pursly will not do the exchange-rate maths for you, and will not silently get it wrong either.

Shared spaces

What's the difference between personal and shared spaces?

Your personal data is yours alone. Nobody else can see it, including people you share a space with.

A space is a separate, opt-in shared workspace — for a couple, a family, or a small group. Transactions, goals, budgets, and categories created inside a space are visible to everyone in it. Your personal data and a space's data stay completely separate; joining a space never exposes what you track on your own.

How many spaces can I create?

You can own up to 2 spaces. Joining a space that someone else created does not count toward that limit — only spaces you created yourself.

Creating a space requires Pursly Lifetime Family. See the Pursly Lifetime section below.

How do I invite family or friends to a space?

The person who created the space invites others by email address. An invitation stays valid for 7 days, and the invitee accepts it from inside Pursly once they have signed in.

If the invitation email does not arrive, the invite is still there — the invitee can find and accept it in the app without it. Check the spelling of the address before sending another one.

Who can see what in a shared space?

Everyone in a space can see and edit everything in that space. There are no read-only members today — if someone is in the space, they can add, edit, and delete the space's transactions, goals, and budgets. Please invite people accordingly.

Two things are limited to the person who created the space: inviting or removing members, and deleting the space itself.

Nothing personal is ever visible in a space. That includes anything imported from your Gmail, which always stays personal.

Pursly Lifetime

Is this a subscription?

No. Pursly Lifetime is a one-time purchase. There is no renewal, no recurring charge, and nothing to cancel. You pay once and keep it.

What's included in Pursly Lifetime?

Pursly Lifetime unlocks the AI assistant, with a monthly message allowance, alongside the rest of Pursly's personal features.

There are two versions — Personal and Family — described in the next answer.

What's the difference between the personal and family plans?

Pursly Lifetime Personal is $17.99 USD and unlocks the AI assistant with 100 messages per month.

Pursly Lifetime Family is $29.99 USD. It raises the allowance to 250 messages per month and adds the ability to create shared spaces.

Both are one-time purchases. Prices are shown in your local currency by the App Store, so the exact amount you see may differ.

In a shared space, the owner's Family purchase covers everyone. Other members do not need to buy anything to use the assistant in that space — but their messages come out of the owner's monthly allowance, which is why everyone in a space sees the same number of messages remaining.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in to Pursly with the same account, then use Restore Purchases on iOS. Your purchase is tied to your Pursly account and to the App Store account you bought it with, so it follows you to a new phone.

If it does not unlock after restoring, make sure you are signed in to Pursly with the same email you used originally, and to the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still does not appear, email us and we will sort it out.

AI assistant

Does the AI assistant ever make changes without asking me first?

No. Nothing the assistant proposes is saved until you approve it.

Asking a question — what you spent last month, how a budget is doing — is answered straight away, because reading changes nothing. Anything that would write to your data comes back as a proposal you explicitly confirm or decline. If you do not answer, it expires after 10 minutes and nothing happens.

Two more safeguards. Confirming twice cannot apply the same change twice. And when you delete a transaction through the assistant, it is recoverable rather than permanently erased, because the assistant worked out which transaction you meant and it could have picked the wrong one.

How does the AI chat feature work?

Ask about your money in plain language — "how much did I spend on groceries last month?" — or tell it what to record, like "add a $12 lunch yesterday".

It can look up transactions and check budgets, and it can propose adding, editing, or deleting a transaction, creating or updating a goal, contributing to a goal, and creating a budget. Every one of those writes waits for your confirmation.

The numbers it reports are calculated by Pursly directly from your data, not estimated by the model. Date ranges like "last month" are worked out in your own timezone.

Is there a limit to how much I can use it?

Yes. Pursly Lifetime Personal includes 100 assistant messages per month, and Family includes 250.

One message is counted per question you ask, however much work the assistant does to answer it. The allowance resets on the 1st of each month, UTC, and unused messages do not carry over.

Data and privacy

What data does Pursly collect, and why?

The account details you give us — your email address and a password, which is stored hashed and never in plain text — and the financial data you enter: amounts, titles, dates, categories, and notes.

If you connect Gmail, Pursly reads your mail to find receipts. It does not store your emails; it stores the transactions it extracts from them.

We also collect basic, anonymized usage data to understand which parts of the app people actually use. We do not sell your data. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.

Is my financial data shared with anyone?

Not for marketing, and not sold — ever. Pursly uses a small number of service providers to run the app, such as hosting and email delivery, and each is bound by its own privacy policy.

When you use the AI assistant, the relevant parts of your question and your data are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply. If you would rather that never happen, simply do not use the assistant — the rest of Pursly works without it.

Account & data

Exporting your data

In the web app, open your expenses or income, select the rows you want, and export the selection to CSV. A CSV opens in any spreadsheet app, so your history is never locked inside Pursly.

If you want a complete export of everything on your account in one file, email support@pursly.app and we will send it to you.

Deleting your account

In the Pursly iOS app, open Settings and tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm before anything is removed.

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of your history, export it first.

Deletion removes your profile and login details, every transaction you have recorded, your categories, and any linked sign-in methods — including a connected Google account. You are signed out everywhere immediately: every browser session and every signed-in device stops working the moment the account is gone.

It takes effect straight away rather than after a waiting period. There is no grace period and no way for us to restore the data afterwards, so please be certain before confirming.

Removing the Pursly app from your phone does not delete your account — the account and its data still exist until you delete the account itself. If you have already removed the app and cannot get back in, email support@pursly.app from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
