Connect your Gmail once and Pursly turns receipt emails into expenses for you. No forwarding, no typing them in twice.
Connecting your Gmail
Open Settings → Gmail and tap Connect. Google will ask you to confirm — Pursly requests read-only access, so it can never send, delete, or change anything in your mailbox.
You can disconnect whenever you like, from the same screen or from your Google account page. Either one stops the sync.
What happens after you connect
Pursly checks for new receipts every 15 minutes. You do not need to keep the app open.
- The very first check looks back 24 hours only — connecting will not import years of old mail
- Each check reads at most a small batch of recent messages, so it stays quick
- The same email can never become two expenses, however many times it is seen
What gets imported
Pursly looks for receipt-shaped email and pulls out three things: the merchant, the amount, and the date. Those become an expense in your account.
Imported expenses arrive without a category. That is deliberate — guessing wrong would quietly skew your totals, so Pursly leaves the call to you. Categorise them like any other expense and they will be counted everywhere else in the app.
Syncing right now
Do not want to wait for the next check? Tap Sync now.
If it reports that a sync is already running, that is not an error — one had already started, and your mail is being handled either way.
Seeing 0 imported is also normal. It means nothing receipt-like has arrived since the last check.
Emails Pursly skips
Not every message is a receipt, and not every receipt is readable. When Pursly cannot confidently pull an amount out of an email, it skips it rather than guessing — a wrong expense is worse than a missing one.
Skipped emails are remembered, so the same unreadable message is not re-examined every 15 minutes forever. If something you expected never showed up, add it by hand — the assistant will take it from a sentence like "42 dollars at the hardware store".
Gmail sync is always personal
Your mailbox is yours, not your space's. Receipts imported from Gmail are always filed as personal, and never appear in a shared space — even if you are looking at one when the sync runs. They only ever count toward your own budgets.
If syncing stops
The usual cause is that access was revoked on the Google side. Reconnect from Settings → Gmail and syncing resumes from where it left off.
